117329 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 What exactly would it take to add an A/C system by piecing together parts here and there (ie. compressor, etc.) Is this something I might have some luck with poking around the junkyard or ebay? I'm guessing I would need the compressor and I guess its the condensor, the tubing (hoping all seals are intact) somehow get a fuse inline, a relay, a new serpentine belt, the switch to turn it off an on, and a different heater core? Can anyone shed light on this? Is it possible without dusting $2000 on a new system? It is an older truck (1984) so I have lots of room under the hood to play around. Thanks.
redvett Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 You will need to go to an aftermarket like Classic Air. The factory system will not work on a non A/C truck since the firewall is different.
