Better windshield wipers

I have the stock windshield wipers and i think they are ready for some new ones....any suggestions and why?

I use wiper blades I bought at Canadian Tire (that won't help you much).

They're a one piece blade. I think they're called 'FLEX'. Not sure if they're available down south.

I like them because they don't seize up in the winter.

Alot of people rave about the PIAA wipers but they are pricey.

 

The last set i bought for one of my other vehicles, were Bosch Platinum and I really liked them.

I use triple edge wipers that Paul Harvey talks about. Six months and still clean like new. Silicone wiper vs. Rubber and the silicone is proving to be the better of the two.

I have used Anco Winter blades for years, even in the summer. I buy a new set before winter every year. I really like them and they perform well.

I would suggest staying away from Bosch brand "microedge" wiper blades that Auto Zone sells. I bought a pair not long ago for my car and they were great at first, but performance deteriorated rapidly and after about a year they were totally useless. Even repeated cleaning of rubber insert edges with alcohol (to remove accumulated dirt and wax) produced marginal results. They streak and are simply worthless. I just ordered a pair of OEM wiper blades from Mazda for my car and surprisingly they were only a few bucks more than these crappy Bosch ones. I had OEM blades on my car for 7 years and they were better after seven years than these Bosch blades after one year.

If you have a CARQUEST Auto Parts store in your market, try a set of the new Inovision blades by Trico. Of course if you do not a CQ store, you can find them at any APs store that sells Trico. They are relatively new on the market but they are receiving great reviews.

 

By the way, they are pretty expensive compared to the std style blades.

I have great results with Rain-X. I've used it for 15 years - therfore I never wear out my wiper blades.

Bosch Icons are pretty good. They're similar to the "FLEX" brand mentioned before. The shape is obtained through use of a piece of springsteel instead of a hinged frame. A similar wiper was installed on my Grand Prix as the OE blade. They've performed well.

 

Otherwise, I suggest SSP-Inc's Silblade wipers. I had a set on my first truck for 5 years and still wiped well. Winter use is a concern with these, I found the hinges in the frames to ice up too much.

Wow, you used the same set of blades for 7 years??? I've always had to replace blades after twice a year to keep up the good results.

Mazda must make some d**n good wiper blades!!!!! LOL

 

I usually have to replace OEM blades after a year and winters crappy weather around here has them iced up and destroyed quickly.

 

Like I said, I prefer the Anco Winter blades. Perform well and they are pretty cheap. I replace them before winter each year.

 

Really, what price tag would you put on good vision in bad conditions??

That's a good question.. That's why I replace my blades twice a year. Once before winter and once after winter. Winter mauls the blades with subzero temperatures and ice and the heat and sun of the summer destroys them as well.

 

Man, if I could find a set of blades that lasted 7 years and performed like new oem blades.... I'd be the first one in line to buy them. It's extremely annoying if my blades aren't doing the best job they could do.

I put a new set of Bosch wipers on both my car and truck last fall, and they are doing their job very well. Don't know if they were "microedge" or not, and I bought them at Advance Auto.
