I got a $50 cert. at a parts place, and was thinking that, with 70k on the clock, I could use plugs and wires.

However - the place isn't really geared for the truck and so the only really applicable part is the plugs. They have NGX TR-55's and 55IX's

Is anyone using these are all? if so, what're your opinions/comments on them?

a couple of other parts places list them as applicable for the 4.8, and the plug's index and heat range are identical to the laser plat's that are in there now.

I'm using the iridiums (IX) and have no complaints. My old plugs weren't that bad but I did notice a smoother idle after changing the plugs. This job turned into a change of plug wires as well because the boots would not come off the plugs without damage. Removing the wires was the hardest part of the job.

Was there a noticeable difference from brand new factory platinum plugs?

Hard to say as I started with used factory plugs.
