I have been looking into the magnetic oil filter piece from Filter Mag. It is a very powerful magnet that fits around part of the outside of the filter. It makes perfectly good sense to assist in removing metal wear particles from your oil.

Ayone ever used one?

We sell them at Summit and I have thought about getting one but just dont want to pony up the cash. Every thing i have read and seen looks good. My feeling is it cant hurt.

I'm not allowed around any strong magnets anymore...I can't really go into detail due to the gag-order from the judge, but lets just say that I didn't mean to screw up Hubble with all that copper wire, a spool, and my 1.21 jigawatt generator. :D

Seriously, as much as I'd like to say something like "if you have that many metal shavings, you're going to need a new motor anyway"....I've seen all the crap that comes off the magnet in the tranny pan every time it's changed from 0 up to 240,000 miles (without a rebuild)...So Instead I'll say "it sure couldn't hurt"

That is my thoughts exactly. I am going to wait for a few more responses and then order one. I will cut open my filters after my next few oil changes and see what I see.

If anyone knows of any reason to not add this to your filter, please let me know.
