I need some direction in my life

I can't sleep, work, or live a day without this thought running trhough my mind:

In a few years, what the heck will I buy?

choices are:

1.) the soon to be released Silverado, with at least the 325 hoorse E85 capable motor(E85 stationa are now a few hours away, hoping they will make it to tulsa soon) and take. it's be a reg cab, short bed Z71 with the biggest motor they'd offer in it. I'd take advantage of those low E85 prices. My guess is that something like this would run about 25-7K~

2.) the 2009 Camaro, latest stuff I've seen says it won't be ready until the 2010 model year, which would kill my plans to take 2 camaros, 40 years apart(a 69, and an 09)....in which case I'd wait a few years and buy one slightly used and save a boatload from the dealer mark up that you KNOW will happend the first few years. Probably run 32-33K the way I'd want it

3.) The next BMW ///M1. it will be inbetween the Mini cooper S and 3 series, with around 340 HP, and 50/50 weight balance, and HOPEFULLY, not too much more than 3,000# weight. I expect it to run around 35K.

PS: I've thought about the upcoming GXP Solstice with the already announced 300HP Stage II kit(stage III kit is coming, but spec are unknown....330+HP?). 325+HP with ported heads.... and it'd cost close to 10K less than the M1.

Except for the Camaro if it was made in 09, I won't buy ANY of them until 2010 to let the new car gremlins get worked out, and have more to put down.

ad then there is the chance they will all be let downs, and I may just pick up a 05 cobalt to use as a daily driver, save gas, restore the BMW for a 2nd time(freaking hail storm!) and built up a "car fund" for a few years to buy one straight out with no loan.

Hmm, in a few years I hope my current truck will still be on the road. It should be pushing 200,000 miles by then. Sitting right next to it in the drive way I would like to get a 3/4 ton diesel (GMC) a late 60's or early 70's 442, or 4x4 truck (GMC) .I would like to have my 91 Corsica back up an running by then also. I am single now but If I were to get married during this time this plan will probably go the way of the Edsel.

Get you a Mallet Solstice with that LS2. Looks like a Mallet / Saturn Sky is on the way too.

EDIT - after scrolling down it seems a Supercharged LS2 and LS7s are avail as well....how sick.

Get the Silverado when the time comes. At least with a truck you can cruise around in it and still haul stuff when you need to (something you can say about the Camaro, Bimmer and Solstice).

I think you really need to chill though. "A few years" is a loooong way off and it be something that dominates your thoughts that much.

CTS-V to future proof for the wife and kiddies.

Maybe the V12 Escalade will actually make it.

now your thinking......One previous "future proof" idea was old 80's BMW 745i on ebay, but it went way over what I though it would on ebay. hey were turbo's any didn't run too smoothly, but if you rebuild them with modern stuff they'll run the newer M5's.

But that idea went out the window....

I think you're getting ahead of yourself man, so far the only plans I have for '09 are to breathe, eat, sleep, drink, and make money. Everything else is up in the air.

Heck, right now in these unfortuneate times it's even questionable that GM won't be down the clink.

But, that's just me and the way I think, take that with a grain of salt.

As for your direction, I'll bite.

You have the flashy Daily Driver. You have the weekender/Recreation mobile. If I was in your position, the only vehicle left for me to include in the ensemble would be a truck.
