Variable Assist Module Location?

Need to replace the power steering gear box in my truck and I'm told that I need to find out which variable assist module number I have, either 16244565 or 16259515. Called the dealer and even with the VIN they need to know the same thing. Why do things have to be so frigin difficult, and whats the point of the VIN#? I looked under the dash, pulled the cluster out, pulled the glove box out, and haven't seen the numbers yet. Anyone been through this yet or am I the lucky one?
