a/c clutch operation

Does anyone know for sure if the a/c clutch is shut off during heavy throttle operation?

 

Vehicle is 2000 silvy 5.3.

Mine does...You can feel the air turn warm right about the time my smile reaches maximum width.

From looking at a stock 2000 program, it shuts off the AC at 100% throttle and at 5250 RPM.

Thank You guys. I thought it did shut off but I habitually turn it off manually before thrashing it just in case. I won't do that anymore. I love the accurate info here. There is so much manure info out there but good info here. chevys rock
