help- tranny issues after maint

good day all,

I have a 2002 chvy suburban, 4x4, 5.3L. vehicle has just over 50k miles, so i decided to change the tranny fluid and filter. it wasn't as simple as some of the other cars i've done, but no major issues encountered during the job. fluid didn't look bad, infact, it was the cleanest pan i've ever dropped. when i fired it up, filled it up with fluid and took it for a spin, the "service engine soon" light came on. during the test drive it would not shift out of first. it has all its gears, when you go through them manually, just won't do the automatic thing it was designed to do. i'm going to drop the pan tomorrow and do a thorough visual inspection to make sure nothing real obvious, then from there i don't know. any help from the experts in this forum would be much appreciated.

Pull the codes, could easily be a loose plug wiring connector.
