AM\FM swapped in by dealer in a UB0 truck with UK3

Tuesday evening I bought a 2005 C2500HD LS extended cab long bed. I mentioned to the salesman that I thought it was odd that an LS would only have an AM/FM radio in it with steering wheel controls. He just shrugged it off and said also he thought it was odd. After we inked the deal and I drove the truck home and I decoded the RPOs on the sticker in the glove box. Guess what, it matched the original window sticker that I also found in the glove box. It listed option UB0, “Sound System, ETR AM/FM stereo with CD player.” and UK3 “Sound system feature, steering wheel mounted controls.”

At lunch today, I pulled out AM/FM stereo that is in it, in order to take a look at the connectors and to see if there were any unplugged “pigtails” behind it because I cannot get the steering wheel controls to work. My guess is that the stereo that is currently in the truck is not compatible with the remote controls and that the dealership “swiped” the AM/FM/CD unit to put into another vehicle.

I was able to find an AM/FM/CD out of an 05 Silverado with the UB0 and UK3 options and bought it for $170. Is there a separate harness\connector for the steering wheel mounted controls? There was only one harness connected to the back of the current AM\FM radio in the truck and I did not see unplugged wires left in the dash.

Thanks in advance.

You should only have the one plug. The "computer" sends the inputs from the controls to the radio (via the data bus).
