NEED ADVICE

i ripped out the original center console because my handicapped wife uses a type of equipment that basically cracked in about 8 chunks. i want to go old school, put in a B&M truck mega shifter, and the b&m tech support says"i don't see why it wouldn't work, unless the shift detector is in the console." ???? i'm going to update to 60/40 split bench seats and want to put the shifter on the hump like we did in my mis-spent youth. what i need to know, i can tell the stock shifter is cable operated, but is there some unseen circuit i don't see/know about that would prevent up-grading to a B&M shifter??

the parts cross ref says it will work with th350, 700r4 and "most 4L60e" transmissions. the only data says if it is a firebird or camero, there is a shift detector adapter that needs to be purchased seperately.

 

any help would be outstanding, and the first cup of coffee is on me.!!!
