Custom tune?...how much$

I'm sure the answer is deep into a couple posts, but I wanted to post a new thread to grab attention from people not reading a few other posts.

 

So, '06 1500 5.3L 3.42 gears. What are the options for Custom tunes and what are the prices. How does it work, as far as what piece of physical equipment do they need. Is it a send in sort of thing or something they send to you. Who is the best and what effects will it have on my motor. I am very unfamiliar w/ these tunes. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Jesse charges approximately $150 for a performance ture (based on your truck and your needs) and this includes a re-core PCM. This way, you don't have to give up your 'factory' PCM.

You can send your PCM in to him for a tune and it's cheaper, but then your truck is 'off-line' while you wait.

i have and 06 5.3 and have the wait for me performance tune and he cant get the pcm for the 06 so you either can send him yours and have your truck out for a few days, but hes really fast sent mine out monday and got it back friday , or if you can get one from a junkyard , taker easy

I have the Westers tune. Best bet is to do your own research on Westers, PCMforLess, and there is a third major tuner. Each one has a different price from say $150 up to about $500. Really depends on what you are willing to pay and the type of service you are looking for.

 

Also check out some other forums and see what is being said there as well. Another forum I am on is www.fullsizechevy.com/forums.

 

I am completely happy with my Westers tune. Have had it updated a couple times with changes I made to the truck since it was initially done at no extra cost.
