Replacing Audio Controls

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've got a '03 Silverado with the steering wheel audio and DIC controls. Several of the lights in teh swtiches have since quit working. Me thinks that since everything else in these trucks have integrated lighting, these switches must be replaced. So, how do these thigns come out of the steering wheel? Can I jsut pry it out using a screwdriver or is there a hidden screw or something?

Also, is there a place where I can search for the right part number for the switches that I need?

Thanks in advance.

I *think* you have to take the wheel off. Which means poping out the air bag and such. Once the wheel is off I think you can feed the wires and switches out.

Man I hope I don't have to pull the wheel off. If that's the case then I'll deal with some burnt out switches. Can anyone confirm that you have to pull the wheel to get the switches out?

Take a look at Autowoods. They have a great set of instructions for steering wheel swaps.

According to them, the switches are secured in the back of the steering wheel. Which means you would have to take the wheel off.
