Touch Up Paint

Recommended Posts

Posted

I went to Walmart yesterday and bought this touchup paint to fix a few scratches which are light but I want to fix them

A couple of them have gone thru the paint and can see... What is the proper way in touching up the scratches that need to be done...

Also I have alittle dent with a paint chip do I just squirt more paint to cover the dent.

Whats the proper way in doing this - Don't want to screw it up.

If you have some chips and can see rust, take some sandpaper and remove the rust, then paint over it. I'll use a very small screwdriver or just the very corner of the paper to clean the rust from the chip; too much touch-up paint will look worse than the chip. With the chip and dent I wouldn't try to "fill in" the dent with the paint, just repair the chip and leave it at that. The touch-up paint is very thick and trying to get it to match a sprayed on paint is very difficult, so the less touch-up paint the better.
