ORU Chevy leveling kit Q's

I decided not to go with any "real" lift and just gonna settle for one of these leveling kits. I found this one from ORU that comes with new shocks all around and new torsion keys. My question is how come they dont come with rear lift blocks? Does everyone just do the key and thats all or have some of you guys put on taller lift blocks? Any info would be cool, thanks!

Ouch that kit is a rip off...You need 3 inch blocks in the year, and you can get teh torsion keys from the Ford dealer for 50 bucks...mines gonna cost me about 90 bucks to do.

Yeah you'll lose travel with the lift, so new shocks are always a good idea. Mine are about ready to be changed so I'm gonna replace them when I do the lift. I don't really trust e-bay...I'm gonna get mine from the Dealer...

Yaa, I here where your coming from on the whole ebay thing but I've had good luck so far with it.. I wonder if 4" blocks would be better b/c when I load mike dirt bikes in the bed I wont get all that squat and have the front end in the air. Or ya think it would look to wierd with say 2" in the front and 4" blocks in the rear?

Well stock you have 2 inch blocks in the back......most kits, or how tos suggest using a 3 inch block. 4 inch will leave your truck higher up but still with the stock "nose dive" stance taht most people are looking to get rid of when they lift or level their truck

I will say that i have the ORU leveling kit and absolutely love it, the bilstein shocks are miles better than the stock ones and the ORU kit also comes with new bumpstops which are also a really good idea to have. I say go with it, it is expensive, but you are getting quality and product second to none. They stand behimd there product.

Got any pics of your truck ZZebes?? That kit is expensive when you think about it, you can get rancho rsc9000's for 240 or so, ford keys for 40 cost and lift block and u-bolts for 50 or so? idk, it is a nice package though.

The reason there are not rear blocks is because the kit levels the truck. If you raised the front and added blocks to the back, your truck would retain the stock look......higher in the back[stink-buggin]. All of these "leveling kits" raise the front only so it matches the stock rear height.

You definitely want the Bilstein shocks when raising the front. The stock front shocks max out when you crank up the front. Most trucks dont need the torsion keys to level out, you can just crank your stock keys up, then get an alignment.

If you want the keys, go for it, but all they allow you to do is crank it up further than the stock ones do. For most applications, that is too high.

Figure $70-$80 per Bilstein shock, and $60-$70 for a pair of keys.

Hmm, thats a good point there. I dont wanna over crank the front end at all, just up about 2". Sorry for all the questions but how many turns of the adjuster bolts would equal about 2"? Im sure someone knows or has played around with them enough to figure something out.

Thanks!

My 2500 HD is currently stock. I also want to bring my front end up 2" also to be level with the back.

Can I just add the new torsion keys? Ive already ordered a new set of Bilsteins front and back, and I'm planning on putting 305's on it as well. Will this extra 2 inches up front give me enough clearance with the 305's?

Also why do you get the torsion keys from the Ford Dealer?

Just curious.

thanks

I don't know about the tires fitting, but people get the Ford keys because they allow for more adjustment and sit the front end up higher than the chevy keys. I didn't get the Ford keys for mine, I just cranked up my stock keys.

Thanks for the reply:

Question though, what would be better?

Getting the Ford Keys? and if so what part number for a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD.

or

Getting the Keys from ORU?

Thanks Again..
