Trailer Electronic Brake Controller Question

Hi...

 

I just installed a Tekonsha electronic brake controller on my Dad's 2000 GMC Sierra 2WD (new body style). I bought the factory harness pigtail off Ebay and matched up the wires correctly (not color to color of course...)

 

I also installed the 40A maxi fuse on slot #1 under the hood. The problem is that I am not getting 12V on the power pin (red wire in factory harness...) Is there another fuse I am missing? I did a search on this forum and no one seemed to have a similar problem.

 

Any help would be appreciated!

In the fuse/relay center under the hood there is a red wire that must be hooked to the power studs. It seems like a lot of the early trucks without the factory towing kit weren't hooked up there.

OLD...Pretty sure the maxi fuse goes into stud #2 to power

up the wire.

Try that first....................

 

99. Is also correct. Some early year OBS trucks the power

wire under the underhood fuse box may be disconnected.

 

Do a search with the words "stud #2" and you will find the

info you need.............
