Stock CD with infinity speakers

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 99 Sierra 1500, prior owner installed infinity speakers with the stock CD player.

It sounds like the speakers are blown, at low-medium volume they're fine and clear, but anything with any kind of base it's so distorted, well it sounds like base blasting through an AM radio.

I'm not sure what would be the best route, all i want is basically stock sounding or a little better sound quality than stock.

Does it sound as though they're blown or can the stock CD player generate enough watts?

I am a complete dummy when it comes to automotive sound :D

What's my best and most inexpensive move?

Thanks!

replace the radio with an aftermarket radio. if you get a good one it will sound fine.

there probably is nothing wrong with your speakers. its the radio. not enough power from the radio to sound good. need more power. either from a better radio or an amp. you can change the speakers but those are some of the best speakers around. you can get a new quality radio for $160 to $180 at best buy or circuit city. they usually have free install on radios.
