High volume diesel pump

Recommended Posts

Often I've found myself stuck at a diesel pump where the 'big boys' fuel, and it's a royal PITA to nurse a fill-up from those high volume nozzles.

Does Chev (or anyone) sell a replacement fueling inlet which will handle those larger nozzles?

Does the nozzle fit in, but just click off too soon, or do the large nozzles not fit?

The high volume nozzles do not penetrate past the "flapper" constriction at the fuel inlet.

Therefore you must carefully squeeze so that you get a very slow flow, otherwise they give you a good diesel-shower and then click off.

My 06 will take the big nozzle, so it may be possible to put one on your truck. I think transfer flow aslo sells a large nozzel filler tube.

That's kind of odd. My car accepts the high-flow nozzle.

Of course, you do have to be careful, since once it fills up it will overflow if you've got it going fast.

FWIW, it's the foaming and the filler tube that cause the problem and mandate the slower fill speed, the big trucks just have a big, open tank, so the foam won't cause the tank to back up as it's being filled.
