Hey guys , im sending my pcm back to jesse at wait4 me , and i was goin to have him remove some of my TM, ive been told that having it all removed can prematurely ware parts out in the drivetrain , ive also herd that about 70% is safe , any have any different advice or have had there tm changed and driven it like that for a while, thanks Jackster

I have all of mine removed, engine and transmission, for the last 6 months. I also don't drive like I'm on a race track, much. I left the torque management in tow/haul mode though.

Rammer,

I have an '06 truck just like yours. What have you seen from tuning your truck w/ the TM removed? Fuel mileage? power? Compared to your truck stock. Thanks in advance

Raymond S, I changed more than just the TM. With that in mind, My truck doesn't fall flat on takeoff or during shifts now.

Mileage is better because of the tuning I did, nothing to do with TM.

Power is increased with the timing tables, Power Enrichment, etc changes I have made in the PCM.

Jack, Torque Management in Tow/Haul. Seems to me that GM did this for longer life and towing a trailer is very abusive to the truck. So I decided to leave all the transmission TM in place, but I have no engine TM in either tow/haul or normal mode because when you change the engine parameters its for all modes.

Same trip, same load, same destination, one year apart and close to the same weather. I noticed 12.2 mpg compared to 10 mpg when i had the stock pcm installed. I told Jesse to give me more power and raise the shift points in tow/haul mode. Love the increase and alot less downshift from 3rd to 2nd. I assume they did something with that much of an increase.

My biggest complaint towards Jesse and Hannah is that when I get my pcm back they never tell me what they actually end up doing to it. I know what I requested but there is nothing to tell me what he actually did.

premature? thats BS. I have had mine removed 100%, abuse mode disabled, etc and I haven't had the first problem.

It all boils down to how you drive it. If you abuse your truck, keep the TM on, if not and you can drive like you're a normal person..it'll last a long time.

Gee, what did we EVER do before Torque management in the 80's and 90's.....................

We drove like white folk'

Yeah, IMO- Torque Mngt. is BS from GM. We paid for 295hp/335, I want it available to me at all times. It's just a way for GM to cover their butts.

I have a WAIT4ME tune installed.

I had to bring my truck in last week as it was running like a Ford. Turned out one of the O2 sensors was bad.

Before bringing the truck in, I removed the tuned PCM and put back in the original (didn't want the dealership to re-flash, thus wiping out the tune).

When I put back the turned PCM, do I need to get the crank relearn done again? I didn't bother getting the crank relearn done when I put back in the original.
