I have a General Class license, but haven't used it in a few years.  It's been 15-20 years since I took a test, either, but I don't remember it being too bad if you studied, maybe a take a couple of practice tests too.  Are going for the no-code (Morse Code) license or one that requires Morse Code?  They have introduced some new classes since I was active, I don't know much about most of them.

Try going to this WEB site http://www.arrl.org/arrlvec/examsearch.phtml. This page is for exams. Also browses around on other pages. Starting at http://www.arrl.org/. This WEB site should answer most of your questions. I got my license in 1977 when I was stationed on GUAM. I still have my original GUAM call KG6JIY. I will always keep it no mater where I live.
