Buying an 06

Possibly trading my 03 Z71 for an 06. Mine has 58000 on it.

$31830 sticker

$4500 rebate

$17400 trade

-----------------

$9930.00 difference

What you guys think of those numbers, I thought they looked pretty good.

Just curious, your current truck is still "young" why are you thinking of trading it in? It sounds like a good deal however. I don't think interest rates are going to go down anytime soon either.

I think they should give you a little more for your trade. We traded three weeks ago for a '06 GMC Sierra Denali. We traded our 01 Silverado Z71 fully loaded with 40,000 miles on it and they gave us $16,500

Yea,But look at the mileage difference.

Your truck was 5 years old with only 40,000 miles on it,His is 3 years old with almost 60,000 miles on it. Mileage can make a big difference.

We just took an '04 Z71 Ext.Cab in on trade last week with almost 70 grand on it already and they only gave the guy $15 grand in on trade.

I don't think $10 grand is to bad to get into a "brand-new" truck with no miles on it.

But remember the all-new '07's (Not the '07 "classics") are just around the corner,You might want one of those!! But if you know you don't want an all-new '07 you might want to think about this one.

I guess it is true about the mileage. We live in southeast Colorado and traded in Denver, before we got home our old truck was sold. We were going to trade on the new '07 when they come out but we already had 40,000 miles on ours. We have never had that many miles on a truck before so we decided to trade now and then after the new trucks were out for a year we will trade again if we like the new Sierra Denali.

We know another person that traded his '04 on a new '06 and had to give $10,000 difference so I guess that offer is really not that bad.

If youre worried about mileage, I bought the "new body style" silverado 4x4 truck in Oct 1988 when they first came out. I had 210k miles on that truck when I sold it for 2k to a guy who absolutely loves it. I never even took the valve covers off in 18 years, and it ran like a champ. Take care of a chevy truck and they WILL last quite a while! I wouldn't even blink at 60k miles.

I know this is off topic but I am curious, what brand of oil did you use in that truck?

Valvoline 10W-30 and fram filters if you can believe it. I still use Valvoline, but now it's 5W30 for my 2000 truck and I stepped up to a purolater Pure-one filter.

Valvoline, sure I belive it. I think it is is a very good oil, that's what I use but I am thinking about going with Valvoline SynPower after break in.

Basically just stopped out of curiosity. Not much difference between that one and mine, probably just keep mine and save $9000+

Ya..........if I were you, I would just keep yours..............the two trucks are pretty much exactly the same..........and just think how much better mechanically and cosmetically you can make your truck than any new one with the 9K.

We got 17,000 for our 04 Z71 ext cab lt, it had 60,000 miles on it. Sounds like you are getting a good trade in price for your truck, but it doesnt sound like they are taking much off on the new one.
