DVD install in 04 burb

I would like to install an after market DVD over head system in my 04 burb.

can it be done ? are there things to watch out for, any suggestions would help.

Hey pastor.

 

Here is a link with some interesting structural notes about the crossmember that is added to support the weight of the factory DVD player. I presume an aftermarket player would also need to be braced in the ceiling.

Electrically, this isn't much different than adding any other accessory or stereo.

 

But the big problem is the integration of the aftermarket DVD player to the factory stereo so you can use the factory speakers. Most aftermarket players have IR headphone capability - so this is a workable solution if you do not need to run sound to the doors.

 

Your options open up considerably if you combine the DVD player with an aftermarket stereo in the dash.
