If you are driving and your 1500 crew cab and it starts beaming look in your mirror and check out the top edge of the tail gate.It sits there and and quivers.I love my truck but am still having a hard time beleiving that this day and age GM let this happen.

I know its a truck but this is a wild sensation.

I'm wondering about boxing the frame, myself.

I just picked up my 96 today, and beem shake was one of the things I Didn't notice. I have heard mixed opinions on frame boxing, but there must be a reason Ford and Nissan do it(probably smaller in dimensions]

The factory rep said it was because the frame is too stiff.I was thinking about some how developing some sort of a dampner.I think it starts just behind the cab where the frame gets smaller.I dont think most other trucks have this problemI was told It was mainly the newer crew cab 1/2 tons

My 2000 extended cab does it as well.............it kinda freaks me out when I look in my side mirror and see the top edge of the tailgate quivering away.........makes me think my frame is cracked. I only notice it going over 'rumble strips'......those groves they carve in the road just before off-ramps.......I think they are supposed to wake up sleepy drivers before they hit the corner.

No No...it goes waaay back to 88.

My 94 EC does it at about 40 (when it kicks into OD) and goes away when you speed up.

Hmm i notice nothing out of the ordinary with driving on the highway over bridges and such, mabey im just to use to driving trucks but my rig drives pretty d**n good on the highway imo.Much better then any ford or dodge because im forced to drive thoughs on a weekly basis thru my job and ill take my silvy anyday of the week over those two makes.

Mine has the infamous "Beam Shake" but only on the concrete freeways, the worst being between 65 - 75 mph. If I go about 80, it seems to smooth things out. I put a couple sand bags in the bed one time, clear in the back right at the tailgate and this smoothed things out. I just hate having an extra 100-200 lbs in the back all the time, not to mention if I'm in an accident and those sand bags come flying toward the cab!!

I'm going to get some Velvet Ride shackles in the near future. I've heard this also helps.

That is the only shaking I get, I think it is from the tires and suspension not being soft enough to absorb the bump before another one hits. I lower the air pressure in the rear and it seems to help more noticeably than anything else I've tried. If you are not carrying anything in the bed of a half ton truck or towing anything 35psi in the rear is more than plenty, I run about 30...
