2 door 97

Hey all....i really wanna make my truck fly

its a 97 2 door yukon gt with the 5.7L

idk what gears it has by that might be part of the problem...

the truck doesnt have that great of low rpm power (cant burn rubber)

stops at 90 mph (factory speed limiter)

I Installed a k&n and like it alot but its not enough i wanna be able to burn the tires up like crazy and get alot more accel outta my truck but still be able to have power when cruising

any ideas?

Without a tune/programmer I think it will be much harder to burn rubber.......torque managment!!

I could be wrong tho, torque managment might not be as bad on trucks without electronic throttle control...

yeah but deisels man...u can pump out 150 extra lb feet and 110 hp....with my truck the most im gonna get outta a tune is 45 hp and maybe 60lb feet

Maybe 20 more hp with a chip. But still, thats 20hp. An aftermarket exhaust would help a little bit. Shorty headers would be nice.

Just remember, thats a big SUV youre trying to make fast. Big diesel trucks are easy to make fast because its too easy to make lots of power with a diesel. With gas engines, especially newer ones, lots of power costs lots of money and trips to the gas station. Heck with diesles you put your chip on "economy" mode, and you get 40 more hp and a few more mpg's.

Try a 2400rpm stall torque converter. This should allow your truck to smoke the tire from a dead stop. Also CIA, headers, exhaust, power pulleys, tune, and 1.6 rockers will help.

thats what i like to hear....although its not really a big suv its just a 2 door....eventually im going to get an exhaust...probally origional 40 series mufflers dual with side exits...for now i just have the k&n ill look into a torque converter...
