GMT900 Trucks available to order!

I just finished ordering an '07 GMC Z71 crew cab 1500 yesterday! GMC dealers at least can place the orders.

The only problem at this point with ordering is that dealers do not have pricing in for the vehicle or it's options, but you can place the order and get an order number.

Since my current '06 GMC Z71 was a lemon and GM is taking it back for a new one through the BBB arbitration program, I will be only paying a minimal amount for the difference between the two trucks!

The options list is extensive!!!

Just wanted to pass on the latest info!

It's 12 pages long unfortunately, but here are some of the highlights:

-2007 GMC Crew Cab 143.5"WB 4WD SLE2

-Interior:Ebony cloth (bucket seats w/center console/WT dash)

-Exterior: Summit white

-5.3L LH6 engine (315hp, 338 lb-ft)

- 17" alum sport wheels (same designs as Yukon)

-PDL-off road pkg (G80 locking diff, skid plates, lrg air cleaner)

-Z71 pkg (similiar to previous models-jounce bumpers, shocks, rear decal)

-PCM-SLE2 preferred pkg (remote start, homelink, pwr folding mirrors, heated washer system, rainsense wipers, alum wheels)

-PDD-Convenience pkg (adjustable pwr pedals, ultrasonic rear parking assist, etc.)

PDF-EZ-Lift Tailgate pkg (ez lift tailgate, locking tailgate)

There are a lot more standard features over the GMT 800's:

It's very well optioned. I was dissapointed that the Tahoe/Yukon dash is only available in SLT trim (or the Denali) which has no cloth seat option. Thats why I chose the SLE which has the "pure truck" dash. The layout still looks lite years ahead of my '06 dash though!

It's a work truck during the week (actually goes off road a lot) and a family hauler on weekends so this should do just fine!!!

Anyone know when you can start building/pricing the new trucks on chevrolet.com? If you select 2007 Silverado's right now it still gives you the current "cat-eye" body style. My father is extremely impatient and wants to buy a new truck. He's looking at a Titan but I'm trying to convince him to buy the new Silverado. He's open to the idea but says that if Chevy can't give him a price in the next few days he's going to the Nissan dealership.

I would stay away from the Nissan. They have been at the bottom in terms of reliability since introduction ( bad brakes, rear axle problems, rattles in the dash, etc.). I test drove one when I was looking. The power was insane, the trans was nice but it was very hard to see around the A pillars from the drivers seat. That truck has huge blind spots.

No news on pricing yet. Should be very soon. Tell him to hang in there!!!

Update on 9/25/06: I just called the dealer...The truck is scheduled for production this week and it will be probably another couple weeks after that for delivery which means around MID TO LATE OCTOBER!!!!

It looks like there won't ba a massive amount of these trucks hitting showroom floors in the first few weeks. They will be "trickling in" according to the dealer and mine is in this dealers first allotment.

I can't wait!!!

Your lucky,Everytime I order a truck it takes at least 4-5 months!

The last truck I ordered,My '97,we ordered it on Aug.24th of '96 and I didn't get it until Feb.10th of '97,Just in time for me to drive it to Daytona for the 500!

The bad part is,is that I work at a dealer and I still can't get one quick

I think GM has improved a lot in ordering over the past year. 6 weeks was normal for the even for the '06 model year. Now they say (at least in Southern California) they have shortened it to only 4 weeks under normal circumstances just recently. Since the GMT-900s haven't fully ramped up production this one of course is different. I hope it holds true later!

Ordering a 4x4 (had to have for work) in So. Cal is the only way to go. 80-90% around here are 2 wheel drive...few choices.

It probably depends on how close you live to the truck plant. I think they are built in Canada, so you should get yours quicker than someone who orders one on the east coast. Does this sound right?

BTW, congrats on the new truck. Hopefully it gets delivered soon.

For those of you that may not know, the new GMT 900 will be built in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. This is the same plant that also builds the Avanlache, Escalade (truck) and Suburban. The main difference between all these models is the interior and body. Frame, motor, tranny, etc. is all the same. Same goes for the new GMT 900.

It won't be the only plant building them.

The plants in Oshawa,Canada.,Flint,MI.,Pontiac,MI.,and Fort Wayne,IN. will also be building them once production gets fully ramped-up at all the plants.
