question about cheap air intake system

Hello,

I was looking at the cheap air intake filters for 88 GMC 350 on eBay and there are ones for $25-$50 on there that state they include the filter (off brand most likely). Any thoughts on these? Why so cheap? Is it just a good deal and will still get the job done better than the stock intake? or stay way completely?

Here is a list:

Thanks!

I have got one off of there for my wifes dakota, it seemed really good quality and it did come with a K&N filter. Only difference is that they don't come with the air box or the peice that covers the intake. It used the factory pieces. The mounts where just a flimsy piece of metal that you bent to fit. All in all though it seemed a good buy for the dollar. I guess it is like $40 for the filter and $10 for the rest, lol.

I did a bit of research before spending over $300 for my Voltan system. I found out that there are a few things the extra bucks get you - better materials dissapate heat better/shield heat from the intake. A tighter box will also aid in this. Now, in reality, I doubt I'm getting much of a difference in terms of HP/torque to warrant spending $250 more than you did, but it is a little piece of mind, with the warranty and all that good stuff...Hope that helps.
