6.0L REAL gas mileage?

I have a 2000 Yukon 5.3L that we're ready to replace. I am not thrilled with the towing performance of my 5.3L because hunts for gears in the 63-66 mph range even in two/haul mode. I don't like to tow in 3rd at 3000+ rpm's sucking up $3.00/gal gas.

I'm toying with going to a used Yukon Denali with the 6.0L but fear even worse mileage than my Yukon that struggles to get above 12 in town without towing. Please comment on your real mileage if you have 6.0L motor and if you like the motor. I've heard about some piston slap with this motor (have it with my 5.3L too) but don't know how reliable it is.

Thanks.

Piston slap? No. Mileage? 12.4 per the computer. '03 Burban 2500, 4.10 gears, Amsoil synthetic everything, Amsoil Ea Air Filter, BFG TAKO 245/75/16 (kinda sticky). BEWARE HEATED SEATS!!!

2005 1500HD CREW CAB W/ 6.0. I get about 11.4 miles per gallon with a mixture of highway and city. Straight highway I get 14.5 to 15 miles per gallon as long as I don't go over 80.

2006 1500 cc v-max 2wd 3.73 dic currently says 19 real is about 17. the fuel used is allways off about .5 gallon or more. drive 55mph on 2 lane hilly road with around 500 foot elevation change up and down back and forth to work. so most of that 19 comes from coasting about 6 miles down hill. but balances farly well with climbing 6 miles up hill.

if i sit in town or let it idle a min or two you can see the mileage drop the 6.0 is thirsty at idle

dad gets about 17 with his 2006 1500 cc 4wd 5.3 have to check gears on the same road not sure what 5.3 he has though i think the 310hp i should check that to. he gets a we bit upset when he rides with me and sees that 19 glarin at him.

now in city should i go to stl i cry i'm luck to see 15 but dads stays around 17 the 5.3 is much nicer on gas at idle.

i also have less then 2k on the truck dads never hit over 15 till 5k i'm hopeing i'll see 20ish after i get 5k on it.

i've got the 06 Sierra Denali with 6.0 and 4.10 rear. I drive intermittent city and highway, and i'm averaging 14.9 mpg right now.
