Roaring Fan Noise

I need some basic troubleshooting with a really loud, roaring cooling fan on my 1996 GMC Yukon. Just installed a new GM crate 350 Vortec and I replaced the fan clutch at the same time...since then the fan just roars like it thinks its hot all the time..is it possible that I have the wrong clutch? Is there a CW and CCW rotation clutch or different temperature ratings? The fan is pulling so hard that the motor is losing about half its power during acceleration...How can I check this without spending $75-$100 on another fan clutch?

I would apprectiate any ideas..thanks

Compare the P/N to the one you took off with the previous engine. The clutches are matched for engine size, HP rating, vehicle etc.... so it's important to get the correct one.

You could have the wrong rotation clutch.

I think you may be right except that the threads on the clutch (where it attaches to the water pump) would be reversed ...I think....anyway, I am putting another one on this weekend and will let you know if it works..thanks for the feedback..
