05 colorado lost all gauge function

The other day while driving all my gauges quit working along with all the lights inside then after driving carefully about 2 miles where i could pull over as soon as i pulled into lot they started working. Made an appointment at the dealer took truck in dealer could not find anything. I also askeed about the recall that the brake lights function abnormal and cruise not working because at timeson the highway truck will not go into cruise. Dealer told me no recall exists and they could not find a problem cruise works fine. ANY ideas what is causeing all this because the gauge thing happens on and off

Could be a loose ground under the dash or even between engine/trans and frame. Spend 15 minutes under your truck looking for loose ground straps. Spend another 5 minutes looking for black wires under your dash that are attached to metal. Possibly remove the driver's side kick panel too.

I have checked all grounds and all seem to be good using a meter hooked to the battery and set on resistance i checked all ground connections never had any high resistance but thanks for the suggestion

You have a clusterf***k. Check the cluster connectors behind the cluster. Make sure all are firmly pushed in.

You're going to have to find out what's loose. Since it is an intermittent problem, you're going to have to wiggle things under the dash, and under the truck, to see which "wiggle" fixes the problem. Just because you didn't find any grounds that weren't conducting at the time doesn't mean you didn't get close to the problem. It could have been right under your nose and since it happened to be conducting at the moment, you went right past it.

Make sure you have a buddy with you, that way you can impress your significant other by standing in front of it with the hood open, pointing and nodding and taking an occasional sip of your beer.

d**n, that sounds much better than actually fixing the problem. But it's a cheap date. You'll hate yourself in the morning.
