I have replaced the front brake pads and had the rotors turned, bleed the brakes and I still have a brake pedal that wants to go to the floor ! Any suggestions ? Can you bleed the ABS system ? Would you ever need to bleed the ABS ? I am tired of bleeding them with no results !

I just did the brakes on my 97. After bleeding the brakes I had to pump the brakes about 30 times before I had a good firm pedal. My guess is that I had to take up the slack between the pads and the rotors.

I will check them out this weekend and see what there condition is and go from there!

didya ever thing that maybe the master cylinder is bad.

been known to happen, especially if you been pushing the pedal all the way to the floor, seems you get past the normal wear area inside the master cylinder and it tends to bleed past the piston inside.

not saying thats it but it could be.

its easier to bleed em with a bleeder cup like you get at any auto parts, you can tell when you got all the air out of the system.

I've put the last 110,000 miles on it since Jan '01 and it has allways been like this,no fluid leaks anywhere.I even had brake shop look at it and they couldn't figure it out.It would be just fine for a few days and then the pedal would slowly start heading to the floor. No amount of pumping makes it any better either.

piston in master cylinder can bypass,in other words brake fluid leaks past the piston and pedal goes down slowly.... also can leak brake fluid into the booster and be burnt by the engine where it gets sucked into the intake manifold. you didn't mention loss of fluid so that is just one thing that might not apply in this case..

its worth a try regarding the master cylinder, since the rest of your repair attempts don't seem to have effected any kind of positive response.

I had this same problem in my 98, and I've changed EVERYTHING that there is to be changed. What helped the most is taking the truck on a road with gravel or loose shoulders and get the ABS to kick in (by hitting the brakes hard with two tires in the dirt.) Then bleed the brakes when you get it back home. Apparently I had air stuck in the ABS module. When the ABS module is activated it can push the air out to the lines. My rear wheel cylinders were bad and were sucking in air evertime I let off of the brake. They weren't even leaking that much. I'm not sure if your 95 has the ABS set up I do, but mushy brakes seems to be a common problem in our bodystyle of trucks. Hope this helps..
