Tractor and Truck Pulls...

So i went to the tractor pulls yesterday. Just a small town homecoming and they have antique tractor pulls, and some farm stock tractors and such. They also have truck pulls. Two classes: gas and diesel. So i was watching these truck pulls and of corse you get the guys who just have to see what there trucks will do. So pulling up to the line here comes a 3/4 ton avalanche. What suprised me is that it actually did pretty good. I think it probably got second or third and probably had a pull of somewhere between 150 and 200 feet. This track was only about 250 because thats about all the room they had.

 

But what was most interesting about this avalance wasnt the pull but that i was looking at this avalanche and it actually had a goosneck hitch in the bed of it. I couldnt believe that they actually made a goosneck hitch for one of these. It looked to me like you had better be careful pulling a trailer with it or you would but that plastic crap off the front of the bed though.

I used to attend many truck and tractor pulls a few years ago. Around here, there are many, many classes of truck pulls including big blocks running alcohol, dedicated pull trucks.

 

My problem with them was this: I would drink too much beer and stay too long and the wife really got tired of it, so these days if I go, I take kids with me so that solves both of my pulling problems! ;)

I'd be just as concerned with the deck height. The bed on Avy's are pretty high off the ground.

My guess is the Ava did so well because of the rear suspension set up. This truck is basically a Suburban with a bed. The rear suspension is completely different than a truck and the frame is fully boxed all the way to the rear.
