Chevrolet Dealerships

Today i took my truck to a Chevrolet dealership for an oil change and I also asked to have my rearview checked because it is not showing the temp. (it shows "OC")

I know my truck has the sensor installed, I am asuming I am just missing the harness that connects to the back of the mirror, I was told they would charge me $45 just to check it. I received a phone call from the dealership saying that the technitian found out a "burned" cable and they could weld it for $140. when I called back later on to pick up the truck they said the truck wasn't ready, they said I needed to have to whole thing re-wired and that would cost me $380.00

I wonder if the technicians are qualify to solve electrical problems? how could could they go from saying that it is just a welding problem to re-wiring the whole thing.

I was so mad i just walked out.

I think dealerships should be called stealerships. They wanted to charge me 80 bucks for my 2 rear molded OEM silverado mud flaps. I thought wow what a bunch of idiots. A friend of mines dad is a salesman at the dealer so I got them for 10 bucks. 80 bucks for 80 cents worth of plastic. Dealerships are stupid, overprice everything and anything. You should probobly take it to some mechanic around town that has a good rep and have him check it out and fix it, probobly for 1/4 the price too.

Dealerships are only good for getting cars. Anything else they are worthless for. Anything fixed at dealers is dicked up more than it was before, 9 times out of 10.

If the technitions are qualified, then they must be told to screw something up to make more money. From all the dealership stuff Ive experienced and heard of, their mechanics seem like retarded monkeys trying to put square pegs in round holes. No offence to dealership mechanics.

Dealerships are only good for getting cars. Anything else they are worthless for. Anything fixed at dealers is dicked up more than it was before, 9 times out of 10.

there are good techs and there are slimeballs EVERYWHERE.

if you find a good tech go back and request only he works on your truck.

Well I'd hope they understand the terrible rep half of the dealerships in America are giving them. Like I said no offence because theres good ones out there, but 90% of the time I read a story about a dealer on here or another forum, or people I know take their truck into the dealer, it stays there for a week or two or 5 later than it should, fixing things that werent broke before the vehicle went to the dealer, and it costs 5 million dollars for a headlight.

I would have to guess that weld should be solder.

The reason dealers are so expensive is there labor rates of $90+. If you can it it cheaper elsewhere than do it.

Simple formula and it is advertised in every dealership. so take it or leave it or learn to repair things yourself.

Its not really the mechanics fault. Their bosses job is to sell sell sell. If they can "upsell" repairs, they will. They are in business to make money. A byproduct of this...is they piss off a lot of people that know better. I don't believe they intentionally "wreck" something, but I do believe they try to con you into replacing parts that dont necessarily need replacing. Just my 2 cents.

maybe i am just lucky but the dealership i go to is really easy to deal with and are always trying to honestly save me money, i have only had one problem with them and they jumped on it and got it fixed and gave me a loaner car off the lot to drive till it was fixed. so maybe i was lucky. So kudos to Ernie Guzman Pontiac GMC in houston

What HAVEN'T I done for a living and YES...I'm d**n GOOD AT IT!

Seriuosly it was (kinda') meant as a joke but, if you really want to know....

I've was a Tool &Die Maker/Special Machines,Plastic Injection Mold builder for 20 years then come to Wright Patterson AFB as a machinist and was RIF'd in 95' and have been doing Accounting now for 12 years.

In all seriuosness...there isn't many quailified tech's anymore, few and far between IMHO.
