05 V6 ENGINE SWAP

I AM LOOKING TO SWAP MY V6 MOTOR. I WANT MORE HP. THE V6 ENGINE SUCKS AND I WISH I HAD GOTTEN ATLEAST A V8. AT THE TIME I HAD A BUDGET, BUT NOW I AM LOOKING FOR THE BEST PERFORMANCE. I WILL ALSO BE MODDING SO I WILL NEED AN ENGINE THAT CAN BE BUILT ON. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

This is definatly not worth it. It's too much work and money to pull the V6. Nothing matches. Motor mounts, wire harness and all will have to be replaced. Just get a new truck.

If you are lacking power in the V6 you might check whether or not you have the 3.23 rear end. I had a v6 with that rear end in my old truck, and now I have a v8 with the same 3.23. It totally kills the trucks performance. It's alot cheaper to upgrade to a 3.73 or higher number gear ratio rather than change engines and trannys.

Even with the rear gear swap, it's still a couple of Benjamins out of pocket to change it. With an engine swap that's quite a lot of Benjamins out of pocket.

Since you have an 05 trade/sell it for an 07 or better yet wait when the 07 does show up on the lots and then make a killer deal for a in-stock 06 with an engine you like. 5.3 1500 or 6.0 1500 Vortec MAX (ext cab/no std cab) or the 6.0 SS
