FireAnt Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I have bought the new SIR coil for the radio controls. And I have also bought a new Cluster from an Escalade. Everything installed right. The DIC works great but the radio controls DON'T. A friend at the dealer did some research and said that I have an earlier made truck that did not have a reprogramable BCM?? He said that some of the later 04's came with 05 BCM which he say's CAN be reprogramed, But mine is not one of them. Can anyone shed some light on this. 04 ex-cab GMC z-71 Thanks
FireAnt Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 I went to the dear again today. after talking to the right tech person at GM that was willing to help, like magic I know have working DIC and Radio controls. Thanks

cmccarthy Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 me to, but whats DIC? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Driver information center.
justinerau Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 me to, but whats DIC? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Driver information center. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you guys do a little search.....this topic has been answered before. I'll try to find the thread that I followed (I added steering wheel controls to my 2003 Silverado). You obviously need the steering wheel with controls, you need a new airbag coil that has the connectors for this steering wheel(I'll look for the part number), and a technician that isn't an idiot. Again I'll look for the part numbers and thread, but give it a few searches and you'll find it.
gmcjoe Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Another option is Jason at www.jpcustoms.com - I believe he sells a kit for the 03+ trucks. I have his kit in my 2000 - great instructions, easy install
cmccarthy Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'm aware of the JP customs route, but it appears as though that kit costs something on the order of 4x what you could do it for with used parts and elbow grease.

I now Jason put a great deal of effort and research into his kits. Most of the people out there don't have the knowledge or patience to do that so the kit is a good way to go. If you can do it yourself, that can usually be a cheaper route, let us know what you end up doing
cmccarthy Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Just to confirms, JPC does not make a kit to upgrade trucks newer than 2002.
bcar Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Has anyone tried to add steering wheel controls to the nbs 2007 trucks?
