Just curious...my stock gears are non-posi 3.08's...would be nice to have a spare ring and pinion gear incase one goes bad...although i did hear somewhere that our trucks are now 8.6 inch?

I don't think so. Your 10 bolt has 30 spline axle shafts but s-10s with the 8.5" use 28 spline.

So i guess, from what i gather, i need a locker with the following:

 

30-Spline

8.6-inch

10 Bolt

2.73 gears and up (useable)

I don't know that I would spend the cash just to hav a spare ring and pinion lying around. Mostly because they don't routinely fail and if it does you will still need to take it somewhere to be set up. If I were you look for a whole rear axle out of a similar truck. You could find one geared and with some sort of traction aiding device if you so choose. You could swap it imediately or wait til yours fails (which could be a long wait.) either way that is a really easy job... 12 bolts...
