 I have 1994 Surburban with 5.7 350. Can give me some guidence on this project. I am interested in installing dual batteries with a high amp solenoid relay. I am also upgrading my alternator to higer amperage unit, but I am not sure how what amperage is enough? I need some recommendations and thoughts on this installation. Thanks

100-125 amps should be more than enough. Just be careful you don't wire it as a 24-volt system, since your truck is/should only be wired for a 12 volt system.

Thanks for the tip. My current alternator is 90 Amp and with a total of 8 flood lights and the air condition...the alternator seems to chatter like diesel engine. Some one suggested that install 190 Amp Alternator with Dual Battery system with new Yellow Top Optimas. Please comment.....Thanks

You failed to mention all those other extras. You may want to go around a 150 amp if you're going to be running all that stuff as well. Remember though that your alternator doesn't put out its full potential until you're up in RPMs a bit (1500-2000) which is why tow trucks have a throttle lock by the outside controls that ramps up the motor a bit...more power to run the hydraulics and whatnot.

Thank you....for the additional information and I will look into the 150 Amp alternator. Do know any thing about an alternator named Mead Green that puts out 200 AMPs. Thanks
