Aftermarket Catylic Converter Question

Ok...i always read all these posts about cat back systems from flowmaster, magnaflow or whoever, but i never hear aobut performance cat's

 

Is this because they are really expensive? Is it because if you get performance ones you cant pass emmisions? What kind of performance up grades are you looking at?

Since everything on your list is for bling there is no reason for a different cat. unless you change cams, do heads, headers and increase displacement or supercharge it. Just a waste of money.

When I added my stuff my cat was in need of replacement. I went with a Magnaflow cat. Picked up a couple MPG after cat a muffler.

Didnt your truck have the old bed pan style converter? If so there is a big difference compaired to the 1996 OBD2 converters. You probably saw a difference but the newer converters are very good.
