06 Silverado Door lock Problem

I have 06 silverado ext. v6 4.3 LS. This truck did not have Power Door locks and windows. I'm trying to add these options on the truck by using factory parts. I have replaced the door panels & added factory window switches, window regulators, and the door lock actuators from a LT silverado. The both windows work fine the problem is that the door lock don't work. Any idea what could be the issue.

You probably need to have your BCM (Body Control Module) reflashed. It's probably not talking to the power locks yet. But be careful what you wish for. Once you have it talking, it will lock your doors for you at 8mph whether you want it or not! Big Brother is alive and well at GM.

The door locks are operated by the lock switches... which is part of the assembly which is a module that needs to be programmed when replaced. So, you need to install the calibration for both door modules (switch assm.). This can only be done at the dealer.

 

Programming is done using the VIN, so whether or not installing the calibration will help is unknown to me. According to your VIN, you don't have power locks. Not sure if the BCM would need reprogramming. On some vehicles, you can use a tech 2 and just set the options. Sometimes it will say, "BCM is locked..." and this means you'd have to replace it to change the options.

 

There are a lot of variations, and I don't know what, if any of this, applies to your vehicle. Modifications can be difficult to impossible, which is why we don't get involved in this stuff at our dealership.
