Bud Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I need to take my 2001 HD 8.1 in to have the intake bolts and gaskets changed because of oil use. If I have this done will they have to mess with the computer? I have my Wester's right where I want it and don't want it messed up. Bud
95Sierra2500 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 For a mechanical job like that they SHOULDN'T have to mess with the computer. SOME dealers will try to upload any latest software to the computer though.

Bud <{POST_SNAPBACK}> GM wants us to apply any updates, even if it didn't come in for anything related, but few do. Still, you may want to mention that you don't want your PCM updated under any circumstances just to be sure you don't get the one guy that does this as a matter of course.

Any idea what this would cost? Bud

Bud <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's one of the reasons that I ordered an PCM when I got a tune from Wait4me. So now I have my tuned PCM and my 'factory' PCM. When the truck goes in for warrenty work (not an oil change and stuff), I swap out the PCM.
