INR won't play CD's

I just bought this thing on eBay. It's a used INR. I don't have a nav DVD to test, but none of the CD's I put in the slot will work. It says 'CD Error.'

 

I currently have the HU hooked up to a lux amp which needs programming. Could this be affecting the HU's ability to read CD's?

 

Any suggestions would be welcomed. I'm just hoping I'm not stuck with a worthless INR, $370 down the drain.

 

---edit: by the way, I'm not terribly concerned about whether it will play CD's. If it'll play the nav DVD, I'll be satisfied. So anybody know whether I can expect the nav dvd to work?

pull the top of the unit off look inside and shine a flashlight in there. you will see a small glass eye. take a qtip and some alcohol rubbing kind not drinking kind and dip qtip in it and clean the eye with it. let dry about 10 minutes and try again

Okay, I tried that to no avail.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. Do you or anyone else have any ideas or comments?
