im almost positive that at least the 5.7 Liter 350 started in 96...but im thinking that the smaller 4.3 V6 actually started in 95...

 

i belive its as follows.

 

94 they changed the grille

95 they changed the interior

96 they started with the vortec

I think your right about the 4.3L... I still have the window sticker from my 1995, the base engine is advertised as "4.3L Vortec V6 EFI Engine"

 

I missed the Vortec 350 by a year :) Oh well, it still hauls ass! :cheers:

I have a 94' and the heads say VORTEC on them. This however is not the same as the

Vortec in the 96' Vortec V8s. All Vortec's in that respect started in 1996.

My buddy I'm sure back in high school, had a 95, the year they changed the interior, and he had the first year of the 350's with the throttle body, instead of being carburated, or whatever they were before that. And it said Vortec on it as well.

Vortec is a trademarked name for a line of piston engines for General Motors trucks. The name first appeared in 1986 on a 4.3 L V6 but is now used on a wide range of different engines. Modern Vortec engines are named for their displacement in cubic centimeters.
