K&N cold air filter prices?--Way too high

I am thinking of getting a K&N cold air filter setup for my 07 Silverado V8 4.3. I looked up the price and was floored. I mean all I see is a filter and hose pipe, and they want 275.00 for that. What gives, its not worth it. I think the filter alone goes for maybe 50.00 or so, which means the pipe is 200.00. Am I seeing something wrong?---Help me to understand it. If it helps with MPG it will take a couple of years to replenish the savings?----Thanks I needed to vent :-)

PS--I have the trailering/handleing package option, and it already has a high capacity ait filter installed from the factory. I wonder if going to K&N will make a difference.?

I doubt that switching to a CAI would be beneficial for your Silverado since you have the high capacity system already. Switching to a K&N filter can save you money over the life of your vehicle as once you spend the initial $50, you can buy the $10 recharge kit that is good for 5-10 recharges. I would suggest making your own CAI if at all possible.
