100K coverage ?

Don't know about anyone esle but, what good is 100K warranty when GM considers ANYTHING wrong with their vehicles is considered "normal maintenance" on everything from intermediate steering shafts, skip shifts in the tranny, slip yoke problems, bolt's falling out from the front ends and on and on ?

 

Been a GM man most my years and for the life of me....can't figure out what their plan is with this 100K warratnty. It ain't worth a dime if your vehicle is in the shop every other day!

Not sure what kind of comment you're expecting from me. When your trans grenades at 80k miles, or your water pump goes at 90k, you won't be complaining about the 100k powertrain warranty then, will you? No, I didn't think so.

Speaking of water pumps, my '01 was dripping coolant from somewhere around the pump. It was consistent, a little bit every morning on my garage floor. Now it stopped (yes I do have coolant) my warranty is up in a few months. If I bought it in what would they do to test for a gasket leak? I hate for it to start again after the warranty runs out.

Bring it in, and have it looked at. I discovered if you an issue and bring it in BEFORE the warranty is up...if they can't duplicate the problem at least it was documented. My dealer told me even though the new car warranty would be up, since we looked at it now and it shows up later you are covered. :puke:

An '01 is already way out of warranty, unless you're talking about an extended warranty. Bring it in, let them pressure check it and see if they can find a leak.

How about building our own trucks...nevermind we CAN'T. If you don't like the truck, trade it in for a moped....40 mpg. :puke: If man made it, then there is a guarantee it will break sooner or later...sh*t happens, deal with it.

I just don't understand some people.....GM is giving a 100k warranty and people are still complaining :cool::D

I guess some people will never be happy no matter what you do for them. :smash:

Just like Nice rig said,If man made it,its gonna break sooner or later.I don't care what it is....Chevy,Dodge,Ford,Toyota or anything else,its gonna break.

SO you complain when its 3/36K its too little but now at 5yr/100K its too much?. hellooo :smash: Its better than any other manufacturer out now. In fact Ill be trading for a later 07 or 08 sierra.

Yea, it has the 6 yr 100k warranty they gave out if you complained about piston slap. They told me the noise I heard in '01 was piston slap so I got the warranty. Turned out the noise was the 4wd shifter, it has a plastic piece that was cracked and resonating. Thanks for the advise, I will bring it in for the test. Do they still use dye with the blacklight or just the pressure test? If it is a small leak would the pressure test indicate it?

      I have thought an EV might have some practical value in extending the life of the ICE members of ones fleet. Now....I'm convinced of it. I've been letting my better half access Raven (Mitsubishi Mirage) for her needs while Dizzy has been in the shop. Being the fuel freak I am and given the fact Raven is capable of over 60 mpg in clean air on a warm day I was taken back by the wife's ability to take a car that had used a half a tank of gas that to that point had returned a value of 57 mpg and return in with a decimating 51 mpg for that same tank in that same day in a 15 mile round trip of short hop errands and a stop in the drive through at Micky D's.  😱   Trust me on this. It would take the remainder of that tank driven on the highway to return that tank to just 54 mpg. This is not a Mitsubishi issue. This is an ICE issue that is magnified in vehicles capable of such high fuel economy values. On a percentage basis your 1500 does the same thing. Short hopping an ICE consumes a good deal more fuel and in doing so provides zero additional useable outputs. That entire volume of fuel is wasted in diluting the cylinder walls oil films, creating crankcase moisture and acid content and the resultant wear.    Enter the SLATE. All of that is avoided and the ICE's advantage in range and made useful at reduced wear for your ICE!   Kind'a cool.

      Back in the day people would buy cars based on performance. The charger posted does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. And it’s fully loaded.  It has a decent warranty and will fit most anyone’s needs. Remember the original Hemi? 90 day warranty. 25K mini truck or that car? I’d go with the car. It wouldn’t fit my perimeter. If I could just talk my wife out of her Genesis. It would be perfect for her.

      Let's pivot this back. Someone said they wanted pictures.   Even better, there's already video. Pre-prod prototypes are already on the road and they're letting the press drive them.   JerryRigEverything did a good review.       The Charger EV was stillborn. Wrong car at the wrong price for Dodge's intended audience. Now at a good price with fire-sale discounts, and still not selling, it's still very much the wrong car. Again, Dodge's intended audience. I believe a lot of Stellantis' EV blunders were all under Tavares' regime at Stellantis...the board convinced him to move on. Neat car, just wasn't received on the level that would sustain mass production.   Dodge is headed in a better direction for its core business. I didn't think there was anything left to get excited about re: the Durango after its 15 year run, but they're just now releasing a 392 version that should price out in the low 40's. Nicely done. I'm not sure I would touch anything Stellantis makes with a 10' pole these days, but the Durango is still mostly parts designed like 3 parent companies ago so maybe it's still OK?
