2007 Silverado Classic Gas Mileage Report

I did a Highway mileage check with my 07 classic Silverado here are the results

 

Miles on Odometer 1200--

2007 Classic Silverado, regular cab, long box

V8 4.8, with factory trailering package and hi-capacity air filter “from factory”

Gear ratio 343’s

Tonneau cover, Downey

Side vent visors

Lund Bug Shield

Tire Pressure 35psi

Cool day—45 degrees so no Air conditioning on—

Mile per Gallon Highway 18.92—no jackrabbit starts, driving easy on the pedal, I went 60 in a 55 zone and 65 in a 65 zone.

 

The truck is still new and breaking in, so I hope it gets a little better.

That should improve with few more miles on her. My wife's 04' Sierra 5.3 is getting 19 to 20 on the highway and easy driving. Very impressive mileage pulling an 02' Pro Team 185 /90 motor fully loaded...around 17 to 18

Yeah...It should get a little better. Especially with those gears.

 

I got well 20-22 mpg when going 65 in my '02 ex cab Z71, with the A/C on.

 

Dont' be afraid to use the A/C on the highway, by the way. The windows down causes more resistance than the A/C does (doesn't matter what speed the A/C is on either).

 

And please tell me you left the tailgate up

Yes, Tailgate was up :-)

 

Additional: I also filled up Today at lunch with 99% highway miles, I figured 19.55 MPG. 18.52mpg and 19.55 equal about 19MPG average. Just what the sticker says.

Best part is...It's going to get better.

 

If somebody told the baby boomers that they'd be driving 300 HP trucks that could haul 10k lbs and get over 20 mpg (not at the same time though) on the highway...They'd have you locked in a rubber room in an "I Love Me" jacket.
