New Silverado's are $$$

I've been on Chevy.com looking at dealer inventory for new 2007 Silverado's and found several.

The first thing that is apparent is how much more expensive the new Silverado's are compared to the 2007 Classic. I found several 2007 Classic LT1 4x2 Crew Cabs for around $29,000, which is the level I'm interested in. This includes 5.3L, towing package, 17" aluminum wheels, power drivers seat, locking rear, etc. An equivalent 2007 is $32,000! That's a huge jump in price for the same level.

I thought I remember seeing Chevy announce that they were holding the price on the new Silverado's. What happened? The new trucks are nice, but I'm not sure they are worth that much more money-wise (they aren't to me).

I'm pretty disappointed with Chevy at this point as I've been waiting a long time for the new trucks to arrive and when they do, they are priced much higher than the current model.

Are y'all seeing the same increase in prices that I am?

Interesting, my '06 GMT-800 GMC Sierra SLE 4x4 crew cab had an MSRP of $38,658. My '07 GMT-900 is an identical trim level which has an MSRP of $41, 475.

The $2817 difference bought me a factory DVD system ($1200), backup sensers, tailgate lock and ez lift tailgate, power passenger seat, power adjustable brake/gas pedal, roof rack, perimeter air bags, power rear sliding window and homelink. I deleted white letter tires and the 6 disk CD changer in the new one.

Very little difference in my case. In fact, I think I came out ahead when you consider that these trucks are vastly improved in many areas.

There were price increases from the '06 to the '07 classic and again with the '07 new body style and I am sure they affected some models a lot more than others.

MSRP is one thing, what you can actually get them for is another. I am sure the '07 classics will have smoking deals for the however long they last. I doubt the '07 GMT-900s will be deaply discounted in the near future.
