Hot Dimmer Switch

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 00 1500 Burb and on my last road trip I noticed that the plastic all around the light switch and dimmer was really hot. I could only put my finger on the plastic for a second or two it was that hot. I noticed it at nigh and I was only dimming the lights just a little bit.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yep, I have the same issue with my 2002.

Dealership says it's normal......I wonder if the dealership considers anything an issue?

it IS normal. I've noticed it on many GM vehicles. The dimmer switch is basically a resistor. That resistance causes heat.

It seems now days if theres no TSB on a problem GM says its "normal" or no problem found at this time but if it gets worse bring it back and we'll tell you its normal. I still love Chevys.
