Reprogram GM radio

2007 Silverado 4.8

 

I bought an GM radio part # 93801884 with CD, “mine only had AM/FM” and went to the dealer to have them reprogram it because it was in lock mode.

 

I bought the radio from Ebay, it's like new. I tested it out by connecting it to my truck and it played well, but went into lock mode when the ignition was turned on, so the radio is working fine.

 

The GM tech could not get it out of loc mode. They said maybe the truck is to new and they do not have the correct firmware/upgrades yet, but they said not sure.

 

They even had the Tech scanner connected to my orginal radio and could not even "get info" from the scanner TECH II on that radio. To the best of their knowledge the test/scanners equipment is working fine.

You first need to figure out why the Tech 2 is unable to communicate with the original or new radio. Without that communication happening, you're dead in the water as far as unlocking the new radio. It shouldn't have anything to do with firmware/software on the tech 2. One should be able to get connected, even if all functions may not be able to be performed by the tech 2.

 

Have you added any kind of aftermarket electronic equipment?

The ONLY thing I added was a orginal GM OEM cruise control switch. I bought it from http://www.thecruisecontrolstore.com. It was a simple "but tedious" job. I DID have to cut and tap 3 wires from the 52 pin connector.

 

Pink-A2--not cut just tapped into

Gray-B32 Gray/White--cut and connected to cruise switch

Blue-B1 Gray--cut and connected to cruise switch

Black-B10 Bark blue--cut and connected to cruise switch

 

The Cruise works great--total cost 125.00.

 

This is all I did since I bought it.
