The Z71s come with Tenneco shocks. Tenneco is the parent company that also makes Rancho and Monroe.

Thank you Ray, are they any good and are they worth replacing? Thanks again Ray for your time, Jake.

Jake, I was surprised to find the rear shocks on my Yukon to be manufactured by Sachs. They are called "self leveling" on the window sticker and are extremely high pressure shocks. So much pressure that you cannot compress them by hand. Not even a 1/8 of an inch.

I would suggest that you OE shocks are of good quality and I pesonally would not consider replacing them until you had 50K miles or better and maybe not even then.

If and when you decide to replace them, take a look at KYB. Their Mono Max is one of the finest quality ride control products on the market, IMO.

I would suggest Bilstein shocks,That is what GM use to put under the "OBS" Z71 trucks (and also the S10s with the "ZR2" or "ZM6" package)

I wish they would still use them, but at least we can change them ourselves (On our dime of course  )
