Options for reprograming PCM for diffrent tire siz

Hello,

I have a friend who has a 2001 Silverado 4-door z71. His truck came with 245/75-16s. My truck (2 door x-cab and a 1997) came with 285/75-16's. I also know most recent Z71's were coming with 265/75-16's (I didn't think they ever came with 245's, but his did. . .). Anyway, he's about to get new tires and would like to put on 285's if possible, or at least 265's. What are his options for reprograming the PCM for the diamiter size? (the least $ the better)

Also, I know he will have no problems with clearance with the 265's, and from what I have read here, it sounds like he should have no clearance probelms with the 285's either, is that correct? Lastly, his door sticker says his wheels are 16x6.5???? Is that right? -I thought only the steel wheels where that thin. He has the alumn. 5-spokes with the indent at the top of each spoke. ..

I may just put my wheels/tires on his truck this weekend and let him try it. I just put the newer 17" wheels on my truck with the 285/70's so I have the other set just laying around anyway.

Thanks,

-Justin

I have an 02 and I just went from a smaller than your friend-235/75/16 to a much larger 285/50/20. I still have room to drop the front 2" and the rear 4". He will be able to go up in size no problem and have plenty of clearance.
