Extended cab creaking from drivers door?

Well, my 04 GMC SLT extended cab is in the shop again to resolve the creaking/popping sound coming from the drivers door area. My theory is the drivers side front body mount though the stealership says the did the insulator trick already - no good. To make it worse, they say it isn't making ths sound for them! This is about the only problem I've had with the truck. I have about 30k miles on it currently. Cold weather seems to aggrevate the problem and it appears to come from the drivers door/dash area junctino though sound is funny as it travels. Anyone else experience this before?

I have the same thing on my '01 Sierra, but i have 173k miles on mine, so I should expect a lot of moans and groans from it :)

and cold weather does in fact play a big part in that, in the winter I'm always hearing the noise, but in summer months it doesn't happen nearly as often.

My `05 made asqueking on the drivers door, took it in and 5 minutes later got it back. They changed out that black bar in the middle that keeps the door from swinging wide open. Problem resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try following the E=brake cable as it goes through the floor. Once it goes through the floor, it will bend back and head towards the rear of the truck. Right there at that bend it would creak up against my truck. And the sound sounded like it was coming from inside because the sound traveled through the cable and into the truck.

That was the cause for my sound. Maybe it happened to you also.

I would think that replacing the door check (=that black bar....) would only resolve creaking or squaling noise when the door is being opened or closed. Looks like these other people have noise coming from the door area with the doors closed.

Some creaking noises are caused by rubbing of door panels against metal door. I would remove the door panel and insert a small piece of electricl tape under each fastener where two panels join.

I'm getting a "Creaking" or "rattling" seeming to come from the drivers side read door, possibly the strike pin if you will on top of the door. It is heard going down the road. I have slammed the door shut several times and tried searching these forums. Thought I read somewhere that some others were having this problem. Its driving me nuts. Anyone remember seeing anything of this nature of have this issue and possibly have some answers? Thanks.

I agree w/ PM26 - door panels. I took mine in 5 or 6 times because of the same thing and they never could get it to disappear. Last year while putting in some aftermarket stereo I was able to see some of the effort they put into trying to make it go bye bye when I removed the drivers door panel. After putting in some sound deadening while doing the stereo upgrade I managed to get rid of the noise. You might also try lubricating the weather stripping with some silicon lube.

Had same noise coming from between front and rear door of my xtended cab, turned out to be the little black plastic plunger that locks the rear door handle from opening. Its below the latch on the rear door and pushes agaisnt a black plastic guard on the drivers door, I put a little lube on it and the creak dissappeared.
