Ok, so my girlfriend bought a 2006 Trailblazer EXT. It hs the overhead DVD player in the back and a double din Bose stereo. The only thing she desperately wanted was the navigation. Now I looked at some of the posts and I need some clarification.

I looked in my glovebox and the number did not have the Y91 on it. So is this a non-lux stereo? what are the Navigation Unit model numbers I should look for?

Do I need a wiring harness to make the Navigation work?

Does the Navigation Unit have an antenna? If it does, where is it located? What else does the navigation unit need?

Does the navigation unit use DVD for navigation? If it does, what disc changers can I use with the navigation unit and what is the model number?

Think that's about it. I hope I can surprise her with it before Xmas if I can find all the parts. Thanks!

if you don't want to look around for parts, give jp customs a call. they have a package for trailblazer with nav unit, antenna, map disc, cd changer (extra), splice items, and instructions. if you want it before x-mas, this may cost more but may be the way to go.

In the auction, it says "FOR $100 EXTRA WE CAN PROGRAM THE RADIO SO THAT ITS PLUG AND PLAY NO DEALER NEEDED". What do they mean by that? is that something i can do by myself?

Once a radio is installed in a vehicle the radio "learns" the VIN of that particular vehicle. If the radio is removed and placed in another vehicle, it will not work because of the Anti-Theft feature. The "programming" consists of connecting the dealer's Tech 2 handheld unit to the vehicle and clearing the VIN from the radio so that it will work in the new vehicle. My dealer did this for me for free. You cannot do it on your own since you need the Tech 2 unit.

will all dealers do this for free?  If not, how much would it typically cost for them to clear the VIN?

It only takes them 5 minutes. I have a good relationship with my dealer and service dept. so they didn't charge me. I can't tell you how much your dealer might charge you, maybe 30 mins. labor, maybe nothing.

I gotta say them charging 100 bucks to clear the VIN is just robbery. IMHO you should buy an Ebay package and hit the nearest dealer. My bet is they'll charge you half that if anything at all.

well, we'll bring it to the dealership she bought the truck from. Maybe they'll do her a favor.

I forgot that it has the factory installed Panasonic rear DVD player. Will this work with the new stereo? I'm looking at GM Part #15800000.
